VALENTINO: STYLE OF MOVEMENT

Need a gift for the dancer in your life?

Or the fashion fan? Look no further than The Style of Movement (Rizzoli), the new book from husband-and-wife photo team Deborah Ory and Ken Browar, the duo behind NYC Dance Project. If the cover shot of Valentino fave Tiler Peck en pointe in a vintage Valentino gown hasn’t sold you, consider that Mr. Valentino, a confirmed ballet fanatic, penned the foreword to the book. “Wearing clothing is about expressing emotion, just the way dance is,” he points out. “I have loved collaborating with dancers throughout my career because the movement of a dancer brings to life my designs.” In the pages that follow Mr. Valentino’s intro, Ory and Browar capture more than 70 of the world’s greatest dancers, from companies such as the New York City Ballet, Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, the Bolshoi and the Royal Danish Ballet, in dynamic motion, wearing incredible fashion designs. There’s Comme des Garcons, Moschino, vintage Halston, and costumes designed by Martha Graham herself—as well as more stunning looks from Valentino. It’s a gorgeous book that both dancers and non-dancers will love.
