Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez is W magazine’s August cover girl. A firm fan, the multitalented Ms. Lopez makes a regular habit of wearing Valentino: She wore a chantilly lace Valentino dress to her 2001 wedding to Chris Judd, for one example, and last year sat beside Mr. Valentino himself at the house’s Spring ’13 fashion show in Paris. But her most memorable Valentino fashion moment surely dates from the Academy Awards ceremony in 2003. Lopez wow-ed the world in her mint green, one-shoulder, sari-style gown, which was based on a dress worn by Jackie Kennedy Onassis on an official visit to Cambodia in 1967. (And that dress, meanwhile, was also worn by Princess Marie Chantal of Greece to the 2001 opening of “Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years,” curated by Hamish Bowles for the Metropolitan Museum of Art.) Lopez-in-Valentino at 2003 Academy Awards is routinely cited as one of the top Oscar looks of the past twenty years - clearly, this is style that endures.
