Happy birthday, Claudia Schiffer! The Teutonic stunner celebrates another year young on August 25th—as good an excuse as any to reminisce about her long and loving relationship with Valentino. Veteran of innumerable shows and several memorable campaigns—including the indelible one from ‘95 in which she channeled Anita Ekberg in La Dolce Vita—Schiffer is also a close friend of Mr. Valentino, accompanying him to the Met Ball, sitting front row at his final couture show in 2008, and calling on him to make the dress for her wedding to director Matthew Vaughn. As the Evening Standard in London wrote at the time, “her dress could have been designed by only one man.” And it wasn’t Schiffer’s first time wearing a Valentino wedding gown: At the very apex of her supermodel-dom, Schiffer closed the Valentino Spring/Summer 1995 couture show wearing a bustier-topped grey silk sheath with a full organdie overskirt. Almost twenty years on, Schiffer doesn’t seem to have aged a day.
